Valarie: Everything I do, I do to inspire people to excellence. As an author of three books, publisher of twenty books and motivational speaker, I travel the country restoring stepfamilies, empowering women and equipping writers to be greater. My companies Pen of the Writer, Queen V Publishing and Passionate Pens have launched thousands of writing careers including those of high school students and inmates. My philosophy is based on the quote from Lao Tsu: "Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."

Relationship Party: What inspired you to write “The Forbidden Secrets of the Goody Box”?

Valarie: Differences in how men and women communicate, think and act have forged a seemingly impassable canyon between the sexes. And once a person’s heart has been broken, a play-or-get-played mentality could result in busted car windows, stalking and other non-productive means of revenge; thus further expanding the great divide.
I wanted to openly share real-life relational challenges to help women make sound decisions and avoid unnecessary drama. I wrote The Forbidden Secrets of the Goody Box to not only take women on an entertaining journey with two single women and one married, but to divulge tips, techniques and suggestions to maneuver through adverse situations. After reading my book, women have built satisfying romantic relationships using my proven advice on

Valarie: What your father didn't tell you and your mother didn't know. Successful. Beautiful. Intelligent. Yet a satisfying relationship eludes Debra Hampton. At thirty-five years old, she can’t figure out why her philosophy on men—and what they want from women—isn’t working. She’s trapped in a cycle of shattered relationships, until a friend refers her to a relationship guru. After some resistance, Debra finds refuge in the counsel of Doc Reid as he helps her navigate through the storms of rejection and failed love. Once he reveals the error of her ways, will Debra master the forbidden secrets to attract her soul mate or continue to keep love at bay?  

Relationship Party: Wow! Valarie, it sounds like a great read. What projects do you have coming up?

Valarie: February 2012, Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc is recognizing me with the coveted Heart of Gold Award. The honor is bestowed upon individuals who have helped others in the community, supported organizations and promoted positive opportunities for others. I am humbled.

I am working on my fourth book, Self-Publishing Made Easy, which releases Spring 2012. I've been active in the book business for ten years and it's finally time I put my expertise in print.

The third annual Dayton Book Expo (www.daytonbookexpo.com) will be held on April 28, 2012. Authors from across the nation converge on our city to connect with hundreds of book lovers.

Sometime during the year, I will write the sequel to The Forbidden Secrets of the Goody Box. Whew!
